Helpline Consultant (per diem)

Function

The primary responsibility of the Helpline Consultant is to respond to Helpline inquiries (phone, email, chat, text and letter), providing the support, guidance and help that has become a foundation of Stop It Now!’s prevention model. Additionally, the Helpline consultant maintains an online resource library and supports development of new resources and materials.

Using the resources already provided on the Stop It Now! website, additional research and use of other carefully and thoroughly vetted resources, the consultant will respond to Helpline inquiries within a recognized prevention model, providing both guidance and resources to encourage adults to speak up and take action to prevent child sexual abuse.

STOP IT NOW! was founded in 1992 to bring public health approaches to the prevention of child sexual abuse. In 2015, we became an affiliate program of Klingberg Family Centers Inc. We operate Help Services through our confidential and free helpline, Training and Technical Assistance through our Circles of Safety training programming, public education through our website and materials, and engage in public policy and advocacy to prevent the sexual abuse of children. Our efforts take the burden of stopping sexual abuse off of children.

Use of Capabilities (illustrated by typical activities):

  1. Provide information, support, guidance and resources to Helpline confidential inquiries through chat, email, phone, letter and text.
  2. Track Helpline contacts and inquiries using data management dashboards and report templates.
  3. Assist with public education development and maintenance through website and educational resource design and content revision.
  4. Remain current and informed in several areas of the field of child sexual abuse prevention including treatment and recovery from child sexual abuse, current policies, and sexual behavior concerns in adults and children.
  5. Maintain and update helpline resources.

Training

Must complete 5 hours of professional development in addition to the required trainings each calendar year.

Education/Experience/Other Requirements

  • BA in relative field, i.e. Social Work, Counseling, Sexuality Development, Public Health, MA preferred
  • Experience in at least one of the following: child development, violence prevention, trauma, healthy sexuality, and adult education
  • Experience in counseling and/or teaching

Hours

4-20 hrs/wk – may include evenings, flexibility required

Rate

$25/hr
